How Do I Change Nike Run Club App For Apple Watch To Miles Instead Of Kilometers
How can you change from miles to kilometers in Nike Run Club? Can you manually add a run to the app? How do you use My Coach? These Nike Run Club questions and more will be answered here.
The more I use Nike Run Club, the more I like it. I have only been using it a few weeks after several years of using Strava and nothing else. I was skeptical of a branded app, thinking it would take every opportunity to try to get me to buy stuff. It does, but in a totally indirect way. By making me consider the Nike brand in a much more positive light. This app is about running, not selling but Nike will sell more as a result I'm sure.
Using Nike Run Club is very straightforward. Download the app for iPhone and Android, set up your profile and start running. If you're new to the app, you're going to have questions and I'll answer some of the more common ones right here.
How can you change from miles to kilometers in Nike Run Club?
If you're not in the US or just want to use metric measurements instead of imperial, you can. It's a simple setting within Nike Run Club that lets you immediately switch from one to the other.
Here's how:
- Open the Nike Run Club app.
- Select the Settings menu and select your Profile.
- Select Units of Measure and change it to Metric.
You can also change your country of residence from the US to anywhere in Europe to switch automatically to metric. That may interfere with your finding routes or runs though but will still work.
Can you manually add a run to Nike Run Club?
If you forget to use your app to track an activity, you can manually add it much like you can in Strava. It's a neat feature that makes sure your annual mileage is tracked as accurately as possible without missing out on a single run.
Here's how:
- Open the Nike Run Club app.
- Select the Activity menu and select '+' to add the activity.
- Enter your run as accurately as you can and hit Save.
There is obviously an opportunity to cheat here but one thing about Nike Run Club is that you'll only cheat yourself. The social aspect is not as powerful as Strava so while you might get bragging rights, it isn't the same as comparing KOMs or PRs in Strava.
What are guided runs in Nike Run Club?
Guided runs are actually a very powerful feature of the Nike Run Club app. These are curated runs complete with audio that can help you achieve whatever goal you have in mind. At the moment, guided runs are limited to eight runs including First Run, First Speed Run, Next Run and Ladder up, Ladder Down.
Each guided run requires headphones or earbuds and will provide audio coaching as you go. The runs will be tracked in the app as usual. You can access guided runs from the Run section of the app in the tab next to My Coach.
How do you use My Coach?
My Coach is a neat feature of Nike Run Club. It's a series of curated plans that can take you from 'Couch to 5k' or half or full marathon in a plan you can use to achieve your goal. You begin My Coach by accessing it in the app, answering some questions and following the plan.
- Open the Nike Run Club app.
- Select Run and My Coach.
- Select a plan option from the window.
- Answer the questions in the next window as honestly as possible.
- Follow the plan produced by the app.
Depending on what activity you choose, the questions will usually be around how much you run now, how long until you want to achieve your goal and how many runs per week you can feasibly do. The idea is to create an achievable plan that you will be able to fit into your life and successfully complete.
Can you add Nike Run Club activities to Strava?
At the time of writing, Nike Run Club does not play nicely with Strava and there is no tool to sync the two. You can use third party tools to upload runs to Strava though. They include https://nike.bullrox.net, SyncMyTracks and SmashRun to upload runs to Strava.
All will require some personal data to work but each is an established app or site and seems to work well enough.
